Pair Rooms

Rooms of two to four on one problem: a shared editor with live cursors, chat, an audio call, and Run and Submit everyone sees. Open or invite-only. Free.

What is a CodeKairo pair room?

A pair room is a live workspace on one problem for two to four people: one editor everyone types in with each other's cursors, chat, typing indicators, an audio call, and Run and Submit that everyone sees. The host creates the room, picks the problem and the seat count, and sets it open for everyone (listed in the lobby) or invite-only (a passcode). Submissions credit the host's account and are linked to the room; the History tab keeps every room you took part in with the last submission's verdict and code. A room closes when the host ends it or after a minute empty. Free on every plan; the lobby can be read without an account, hosting or joining needs a free one.

How it works

  1. Create or pick a room. Open rooms from the last 24 hours are listed in the lobby; a host may keep three waiting at once. Creating one asks for the problem, the seats and whether it is open or invite-only.
  2. Share the code. An invite-only room has a passcode of the form ABCD-EFGH under Invite Details; a kicked participant needs the recovery code to return.
  3. Solve together. Same code, live cursors, chat, audio. Anyone can Run or Submit; the results panel is shared. Edits made while your connection is down are kept and reconciled when it returns.
  4. Keep the history. The room's last submission — verdict and code — stays in the History tab for everyone who was there. The submission itself lands on the host's account.

Who it is for

Two people stuck on the same problem, a mentor and a learner, or a friend who wants to mock-interview you in a shared editor rather than over a screenshare.

Frequently asked questions

How does someone join my room?
Share the invite code. Rooms can also be set to collaborative, which lets a signed-in user join directly up to the participant limit.
Whose timer runs?
The host's session drives the room. Their runs and submissions are what everyone sees in the results panel.
What's kept afterwards?
Rooms have a history: the problem, who was there, when it ended and the final submission with its verdict — and you can open the code that was submitted.
Can I use it to help a friend rather than pair?
Yes. There's nothing that forces symmetry — one person can drive while the other reviews, or you can swap.
